what happened to horror movies
what happened to horror movies. They used to be great, the jasons, freddy, etc.. now its seems that horror movies need to be flashy. before the horror movies were good, they played with your head and made you scared that way. Now it has to completely be visual, something going on as appose to building up the storyline. _________________ http://www.webmasterwidget.com

I agree. Horror movies used to be genuinely scary and suspenseful, now they just rely on cheap gore and flashy images. For me, the scariest movies are flicks like The Exorcist and the Shining. All this dine a dozen rmakes of japanese films and decent 70's flicks is getting old. _________________

You have to remember that our perception of the older films change too. I mean, I was only young when I first saw Friday the 13th, a lot more impressionable. When you watch it now, it will always hold some sentimental value but I class it as a tacky horror film now.
My wife is 8 years younger than me and wasn’t born when films like that were made. She says all the older films are s***. _________________

LOL. Yeah. And especially films that were banned in the UK, like The Burning and Driller Killer. I watched them recently and Oh my god! They should never have been banned.
But that’s just it. The gore in films needed to scare people over the past 20/25 years has increased exponentially. Just think what it will be like in another 20 years time! _________________

I totally agree. It's strange though. My perception of some older films have not, and will never change. For example, The Thing and the original The Omen trilogy will always be close to my heart. Don't ask me why. _________________
