The Empress of China realizes she's being slowly poisoned by her daily medicine, and enlists the aid of two sons to force her controlling husband the Emperor from the throne. Much stylized bloodshed ensues yet little is resolved. I didn't like this one all that much; rent The Last Emperor instead for a truly riveting tale of realpolitick in China.

I thought it was so overdone and got completely caught up in the "style" of these recent movies. the flying around and all that stuff is getting old IMO

I agree; the costumes were awful and anachronistic and much of the palace was garishly painted in bright neon yellow and magenta. This movie was an eyesore.
