Knights of the South Bronx
Are movies about teaching inner-city kids an "upper class" skill like chess, calculus, or ballroom dancing cliched yet? I'm starting to think so. In Knights of the South Bronx, Ted Danson plays a corporate refugee who takes up teaching in a tough Bronx school to pay the bills. Having trouble connecting with his students, he manages to hold their interest with chess. Naturally they kick butt after a few schmaltzy life lessons. _________________
