The Terminal
The Terminal was on TV last night, and I took the opportunity to watch it again. I'm not sure whether it belongs here under Drama or under Comedy; though it wasn't laugh-a-minute funny it's got that gentle Tom Hanks humor to it.
The Terminal was very loosely based on a real story of a man stuck in a similar bureaucratic netherworld.
quote:
Some have noted that it appears to be inspired by the story of
Mehran Karimi Nasseri
, an Iranian refugee who lived in Terminal One of the Charles de Gaulle airport near Paris from 1988 when his refugee papers were stolen until 2006 when he was hospitalized for unspecified ailments. However, no public materials, the DVD "special features", or the film's website mention Nasseri's plight as an inspiration for the film.
