Madagascar

I don't know anything about it, but apparently there's a movie out (or about to come out) called Madagascar. Does anyone know anything about it, and does it feature much footage from the island? It's a place I'm interested in visiting one day...

Probably it's nothing like what you're expecting. This is an animation film. I think it's a good one, but I'm pretty sure that you weren't expecting an animation film.

Ah... I see. So I suspect it doesn't show you much about what Madagascar is really like then. Smile

I just love how altyfc thought Madagascar was a film about the country. Laughing

It's really just about the animals there. I think Chris Rock plays the zebra. In any case, mediocre 3D animated films are flooding the markets. 2D has turned obsolete in the American movie market, which is a shame. There should be more movies like Howl's Moving Castle.

It's not really a film about the animals there, ghostman, either. It's about animals that escape from New York Zoo and end up on Madagascar. Have you seen it?

I saw it when on holiday recently, and I certainly wouldn't call it a "mediocre 3D animated film". It was actually very well done IMO.

No, I haven't seen it, but I've heard from elsewhere that it wasn't worth it.

The critics are generally eager to serenade childrens/family films even when they're awful. Yet Madagascar managed to receive poor reviews, so I naturally took to it that the movie must've really sucked.

It gets a B- at http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808405011/info

Given that the scale is A (best) to F (worst), I don't think that's so bad.

Really... check it out. It's not as bad as you're making out.

I watched this yesterday and quite liked it - it isn;t on a par with Shrek or Shrek 2 or even Finding Nemo but it is laughs a plenty although I'm not sure kids would understand half the satirical references to other films. My favourite scene being the American Beauty take off.

Not wishing to sound like a geek the graphics were fantastic - moving hair effects and shiny, wet looking glossy effects to the penguins coats.

I recommend it for a rental.

I enjoyed Madagascar, though those treacherous penguins really stole the show Smile It very was similar to (but superior to) some Disney movie I can't remember the name to. Think there was a lawsuit over that.
