Harry Potter

Are you looking forward to the next Harry Potter film, Order of the Phoenix?

It has been promising to be darker, and it should be if it's anything like the book.

I have a load of images from the film over here , if anyone is interested.

It was very good. I love the Harry Potter books, however I thought the first 4 movies were horrible. They toned down the first four dramatically so that little kids could see it. This one was not toned down nearly as much as the others, and, as I said, it was very good. Smile

The movies do the books injustice. I require my kids read the books before we see the movies. In his one, for example, there are enormous holes in the storyline and though I understand how a screenplay must adapt a book, it seems illogical to cut out things like SPEW when the future books depend on understanding Dobby as a free elf (unless the plan is to not include Dobby again ever).

It's been a special thing to see my eight year old tromping about with an 800 page book under his arm and watching that bookmark move from front to back over time.

At first we started reading together, but then I could not wait any longer and finished the books well ahead of him.

The last movie (Order of The Pheonix) in general was pretty good though as I said it missed quite a significant portion of the plot.

that actually is VERY cool. I was reading Stephen King books when I was young. they were all about 900 pages in hardback also, lol

I have to say that the fourth movie did the best job to date of matching the book though many liberties were taken with the plot.

Who? Harry? In the latest movie?

If you have not seen it I won't spoil it and if you have not read the books all the way through the end of seven I also won't spoil it.

All I will say is important characters do die throughout the books, beginning with #4.

I've never really understood the Harry Potter craze. Like Marmite, I guess it's one of those things you either love or hate.

The movies clearly piggyback on the books - the movies themselves would never succeed if the books had not been so popular.

Order of the Phoenix was most people's least favorite Harry Potter book simply because Harry was in such a bad mood throughout most of it. You do still see some of this anger in book seven, but by then it's tempered with a lot more understanding. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is where we finally get the last pieces of the puzzles and we can see how well the books were written, from the very beginning.
