We have films, movies, flicks... anything else?

How come there are so many different words when one would do?

I think that one of reasons is that film/movie/flick has evolved, and film today isn't exactly the same as film 100 years ago. I think we adapted number of words to describe film over the years for this reason.

Motion pictures, I think is one more , well not one word but same meaning.
