The Matrix

Everyone seems to say what a great movie this is but... I dunno... I just don't like it. I'm not sure it pisses me off, but I really don't see what all the fuss is about.

Well... maybe I'm slow on the uptake... but I just found it all too confusing, right from the start. I like a movie where you can follow the plot easily. Perhaps I have a poor attention span.

It's a kind of dark movie actually. The premise of the movie is that you're essentially trapped in this world. This planet "earth" is essentially a prison. That's the kind of message this movie has.

It's an ok movie, it was the special effects that hyped it up and sadly for a group of people out there that is enough to make it a great movie, others require a decent storyline and good acting.

The Matrix doesn't stand out as superb or atrocious, it's just one of the crowd in my opinion.

Have you watched V for Vendetta? If so, what did you think about it?

I ask this question because both movies are written by Wachowski bothers, and there are certain similarities.

Yeah, let me know. Cinematography in these two movies are pretty similar, but you also find that two movies have very similar messages. Two movies tell stories a little differently though.

I think the movie actually had a number of messages, dpending on which level you looked for it. On interesting thought was the idea that we have all effectively been reduced to battery cells powering the current world (society, economy etc), and have no idea of how to be free since our purpose gets dictated to us through our peception of our environment.

I think I missed all/any messages. It's just not a film I "get", I guess...

I don't agree. The Matrix "1" is a real classic.

The story is very original and they were one the first to use
new kind tech into the movie. the slowmotion the camere position
and a great cast also makes this to one of my all time favourites.

I do have to add that the matrix 2 and 3 really dissapointed me

Same here.
Matrix 1 is a great movie.
2 wasn't that good anymore, and 3 was the worst...
