She's the Man
I always thought Amanda Bynes was cute, and this film seemed fun enough.
The movie kicks off (pun?) with the female soccer team getting cut from the school program, due to a low turnout rate. Consequently, Amanda and her teammates request to join the male soccer team, but the coach overrules. Rejected, Amanda goes undercover as her twin brother, thus enabling her to try out for the guy's team. Of course, the fun is all in Amanda's wacky attempts to prevent her peers from discovering her true identity, despite a complicated romantic triangle that threatens to uncover the master plan.
I was afraid the movie would turn out to be a major flop. As adorable as Amanda can be, she's got a checkered past. Her last film What a Girl Wants may as well have been an ABC Family TV movie.
Yet, I was pleasantly surprised. In many ways, it felt like a Farrelly Brothers film. The script is loaded with outrageous scenarios combined with matter-of-fact humor. She's the Man easily ranks as the queen of teen flicks this year. _________________
