DVD Disclaimers that can't be skipped...
Most movies come with disclaimers like PG13 or studio arts like "Happy Madison Production" that cannot be skipped or fastforwarded. For casual movie watchers, it's probably a non-issue, but for a movie buff like myself, it can take a toll...
The worst disclaimers are the ones that have FBI warnings against piracy. Absolutely the worst way to piss off people who paid good money to buy the DVD. At least with VHS, you can fastforward it, but with DVDs, the companies can program the code in such a way, where skipping is not allowed.
I also happen to purchase a lot of WWE (pro wrestling) DVDs. WWE DVDs always, always come with a 30 second warning that starts off with something like, "Bones have been broken. Shoulders have been dislocated. Blah blah PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME." Even if I was a child who didn't know any better, you cannot stop the curiosity of a child. _________________

It's crazy. You pay money to buy DVD. It's your property, yet big businesses and the (evil) government still force you to use that DVD in a certain way. And here's what's even worse. Suppose that you hack into your DVD player to skip those messages. Suppose that you publish that information on the web so that other consumers can do what they are supposed to be able to do rightfully. Well, if authority finds that out, you will get arrested and prosecuted; you suddenly become a criminal. Crazy. _________________

Even though we pay the corporations to stay in business, we are enslaved by their agenda. So the question begs, do we keep these corporations alive or is it the other way around?
I say we boycott DVDs until they quit shoving disclaimers and advertisements down our throats. We gotta fight the power! *raises fist in the air* _________________

No, I'm unfamiliar with that name. I presume he was involved in some kind of corporate scandal? I would guess money laundering... he sounds like someone who would be involved in such a business. Then again, I don't think money laundering has too much to do with the subject we're on. Embezzlement? No.. again, I don't see the link between embezzlement and pesky DVD disclaimers. Could be an evil CEO for a corporate behemoth. Maybe even a journalist who tackled evil CEOs? Hmm. _________________

The FBI warnings seem soooo long too. But its worst when there are multiple screens you can't skip. You see this more and more with new DVDs. _________________

Personally, the most extreme case that I've encountered was from a UFC DVD (mixed martial arts). It would advertise the event before it unfolded... it runs for about three to five minutes, and it previews the matches that will take place. It just didn't make any sense to me... the purpose of advertisements are to persuade the audience to purchase the event. I purchased it on DVD... I was already sold. Why would I have to watch a 4 minute trailer of it? If anything, it just served to piss me off.
Everytime I clicked fastforward or next scene, it would say, "Operation is not possible." When you click on MENU, it starts all over again. _________________

Oh gawd this is the worst and whenever there are adverts for other movies that can't be skipped either. OR when you finally get through it all and you knock the stop button by accident.

I think I could just about handle the adverts if I could skip past them, or just go to the menu - but when they force you to watch them, it takes the p***, especially a couple of years down the road when those adverts are no longer relevant, and/or of any use... _________________

I think it is ridiculous that you have to sit through all those things. It does not bother me when I sit down for a movie, but corporations have way too much power. _________________

I have to agree that it's very frustrating when you buy a DVD that you can't just watch it as you would wish. I find with a lot of kids DVDs that they try to sell other kids DVDs on them, at the beginning, and you ofte can't skip it. _________________
