Movies that cater for adults and kids

There are some films that I would say are good for both children and adults (eg. Wallace and Gromit)... what films like this - that cater for both parties - would you recommend?

Ah yes... good choice! My little boy loves Shrek. He hasn't seen Shrek 2 yet.

Also, what about things like Toy Story and Finding Nemo... ? I haven't seen either - are they good choices?

Toy Story is not bad, but it's a bit outdated. Finding Nemo is a good one. It's enjoyable to both adults and children, and I recommend the movie to those who want to watch movies with their children.

All other movies from Pixar are pretty good. I wouldn't call them modern classics, but they are enjoyable.

Babe is another good movie for those who want to watch movies with their children.

It's been a while since I watched Toy Story, but I don't remember anything that would've been time-sensitive.

I would recommend Toy Story and Finding Nemo, as Pixar's brightest works. The rest are decent (Bug's Life) to mediocre (Invincibles.)

Some of my favorites of these kind of movies include Ice age, Shrek, Finding Nemo, but also movies like Star Wars and movies like that, I know both kids and adults can enjoy those. But that might not be what you're looking for.

I really like Star Wars and I actually watched IV, V and VI more than 10 times, but I wouldn't recommend Star Wars to parents with young children.

Although I loved Toy Story and Finding Nemo, I just didn't find myself as very receptive to Shrek. I don't know what it is... everybody was praising it to no boundaries before I saw it. I think Toy Story and Finding Nemo are so much more 3-dimensional than Shrek. It was on the lame side, to be honest... yet to this day, people love... they LOVE Shrek.

Well, what's Shrek? Shrek is a love story, right? This is probably one of reasons why so many adults love Shrek. Also Shrek is about true love, it's about finding your soul mate. Now you may not believe in true love personally. You may believe that the concept of "soul mate" is just an illusion. However, I think it's pretty fair to say that so many people believe in this idea of "true love" and "finding your soul mate". This is probably why Shrek is so popular even today.

I'm not arguing that the concept of "true love" and "soul mate" is something I'm turned off by. It's just the way they went about it. The dialogue was dry... the animation was okay... the story was simple... heck, chick flicks are all based on soul mates and true love, but not everyone's gonna respond the same.

In the end, it didn't appeal to me. Maybe I was expecting too much. A lot of people believe Shrek is the best 3D animated film made, and it's hard for me to take them seriously when I hear this. Then again, everyone has different tastes in movies and I should respect that.

I kind of sympathize with you here. Many people say that Shrek is one of the best animation films, but if you ask them how many animation films they watched, they often say that they just watched a couple of Pixar animation films. So, obviously they aren't really making any comparison, yet they're saying that Shrek is the best Rolling Eyes .

I've seen Shrek and bits of Shrek 2, and enjoyed them both, but I wouldn't say they are the best animations I've seen (nor have I seen that many! Wink).
