Spike Lee's speech @ MTV Movie Awards
Spike Lee won the "Silver Bucket of Excellence" award at the MTV Movie Awards for his 1989 film Do The Right Thing. Unlike most of the happy-go-lucky victors at the annual show, Lee's speech was short and bitter.
"The sad thing is that the issues that we tried to address in the film are still with us today. So how much progress have we made?"
It was funny because people are programmed to cheer once a speech ends, but a few audience members who realized he had just criticized the American society, started to boo. _________________

WHY THE HELL would anyone BOO
What he stated was fact, and the fact that some in the audience would rather critize someone who trys to open their eyes are pissed shows that what he was trying to accomplish will NEVER happen with the "MTV Generation" in control. _________________ Discuss Entertainment
