Kind of going back to the topic:
I had chance to watch Supersize Me a couple of days ago; good film. I was thinking that all those lawsuits against Macdonald's were so silly, and people need to take reasonability, but Supersize Me made me start thinking about Macdonald's a bit differently. I never thought anything good about Macdonald's before, but the film really affirmed my view.
With regard to coffee lady, I still think it's a ridiculous lawsuit, but I don't dismiss the possibility of Macdonald's wrong doing. It's not impossible. _________________

Fair enough, but I still don't see that the filmmaker had anything but a superfluous point to make with the release of this film. He seemed just to want to elicit a gut reaction, but not to really inform his viewers of anything they didn't already know. _________________ Shamelessly Pimpin'

That had been my belief for a very long time, but relatively recently I started wondering if everyone already knew, then how is it possible that 2/3rd of Americans are either over weight or obese?
But anyway, though I enjoyed watching the film, it may have lacked critical view point. Also as you point out, the film didn't really show what we've never seen or heard before. _________________

Haven't seen it. Though, I've heard it's basically an anti-McDonald's commercial, and that there's really nothing weighty (no pun intended) about the film. I mean, you'd have to be a complete idiot to think an exclusively McDonald's diet would not be unhealthy, so why would anyone be shocked that he gains all that weight and has related problems to go with it?
Point taken, although I think it's the severity of the decline in health of a perfectly healthy person that's so alarming. After one month of it, it took him 5 months to get back in shape.
Aaron
Well it took him a month to gain that many pounds so five months is a reasonable estimate for a guy like him. It really depends on how intense you work out though. I could lose 30 pounds healty in 1-2 months. I've done it twice. Mixed martial arts fighters lose 15-20 pounds in one day.
You could tell Spurlock has a weak threshold for "pain." I was disgusted when he couldn't even finish a Quarter Pounder. He starts groaning about half way, and confessing he felt like throwing up. It's not even a Big Mac. It's a cheeseburger, and he can't even finish it? Did he get gastric bypass before shooting? He lost a lot of credibility with me there.
Nevertheless, the movie covers some interesting facts in an entertaining format. It's a good movie, as long as you don't become hypochondriacal about junk food. _________________

Anyone here read Fast Food Nation? If so, what did you think about it? _________________

This show was okay. I was hugely disappointed when I found out Spurlock was only going to be featured in the first episode. The rest of the episodes, he merely shows up for a few minutes to mentor the selected individual living the theme of the episode. It's like when they introduce a movie with, "Quentin Tarantino presents..." but Tarantino has nothing to do with the movie. _________________

Has anyone here read "Don't Eat This Book"? It's by Spurlock and it goes into more detail a lot of the stuff that he says in Super Size Me.
And, there's a perfectly good explanation as to why the lady won the coffee case. There's a legal maximum temperature that restaurants can keep their coffee at and McDonalds coffee exceeded this which is why the woman was burnt so bad when she spilled it on herself. _________________ Nutty Chipmunk Productions

But the result is a bit extreme. I don't think that Macdonald's provides great service, but I also think it's a bit extreme to award millions of dollars just because the coffee was too hot. _________________

I watched quite a few documentaries related to the subject, and this is by far the best documentary on the subject. It is not only informative, but also the film is kind of funny; it's comedic. It's not perfect, but this is an enjoyable film to watch over all. _________________

I find that the people who found the information provided in the movie to be "stunning" or "life-altering" are the ones who never read a health article.
The way I look at it, I live to eat, not eat to live. I'd rather eat the tastiest food in the world and die of an early heart attack than eat dryass food for the next 80 years. _________________

I thought it was interesting. Even before that movie I stayed away from McDonalds, though. The only fast food places I eat are either Chick Fil'a or Wendy's (I deserve a hot juicy burger). _________________

I don't think it's specifically McDeezs fault I think that the people that eat there should have more discipline not to. There are many other alternatives just cuz it's available you don't need to go for it. _________________ www.DownSouthFun.com - Your source to a fun vacation
