Transamerica
Transamerica covers the surreal world of Bree Osbourne, a transgender who receives a mysterious phone call from a teenager claiming to be her son. With the final surgery necessary to complete Bree's man-to-woman transformation only a week away, she embarks on a dramatic road trip that will not only test her sanity, but her identity.
Like Crash and Brokeback Mountain, this is another film that addresses a misunderstood subject - transsexuality. So of course, if you're looking for a good old fashion popcorn movie, or comedy - as the movie is being advertised - look elsewhere. The film is more Oscar-worthy, than MTV Movie Awards-bound. But it's not that slow and it's not that bad. Unlike typical dysfunctional family movies (Junebug, Hours, Broken Flowers), Transamerica's got a script that feels intelligent and wholesome. _________________

How do you rate this movie compared to Crash and Brokeback Mountain? Is this better than these two? As good as these two? _________________

If you enjoyed Brokeback's script, you'll enjoy Transamerica. It's no barnburner, but it's still a very interesting film to watch unravel. The movie's dynamic is queesy, but at the same time endearing.
Crash doesn't have much of a script...
If I had to rate all three movies from a scale 0-10, it would be something like this...
Transamerica - 8.5
Brokeback - 8.5
Crash - 7 _________________

Ok, now I have to add this in my queue which keeps getting longer and longer and longer ... _________________

This is one of the movies that I really wanted to see but missed since its not a big, highly advertised movie, and I never got to the independant theatre in time.
My friend saw it, he said he really enjoyed it. _________________
