Video Game Movies
So recently there have been a lot of video game movies, the majority of which have sucked. Some of the most recent ones include...
* FFVII - Advent Children
* Doom
* Bloodrayne
* Resident Evil
* Tomb Raider
* House of the Dead
* Silent Hill
And there are a ton in production right now, like...
* Alice (2007)
* Crazy Taxi (2005)
* Deus Ex (2006, said to be cancelled)
* DOA: Dead or Alive (2006)
* Driver (2006)
* Far Cry (2006)
* Fear Effect (2008)
* Halo (2007)
* Hitman (2007)
* Hunter: The Reckoning (2007)
* Max Payne (2007)
* Metroid (Rumored)
* Pac-Man
* Perfect Dark (2008)
* Pokémon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea: Manaphy (2006)
* Postal (2007)
* Prince of Persia (2007)
* Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)
* Splinter Cell (2006)
* Spy Hunter (2006)
* Tekken (2006)
And there's rumored to be a World of Warcraft movie too.
So does anybody like any of these video game based movies, or think any of the ones in production will be any good? _________________

Nothing interesting up to now. Here's the major problem. This is accountant's thinking. These video games are well-known, so movie studios can cut advertising budget. Movie making is a business and it needs to be financially sustainable in the long term; there is no doubt about that. But once you start counting numbers before you even write any script, it is highly unlikely that you'll make a good movie. That's exactly what's happening right now. _________________

I haven't seen any movies based off of a game that really was worth my time. I don't think that it is easy to get the movie effect out of a game that was designed to be played and not watched. _________________ http://www.LucnetSolutions.com - World Wide Hosting Solutions

The only good video game movies that I have seen are the two tomb raider movies. I like those pretty well.
Out of the upcoming ones, the only one's I will see are probably the Halo movie, Metroid, and WoW. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they are no good. _________________

I enjoyed the first Resident Evil movie and Doom. Most of the others I either haven't seen or didn't care for that much. The list of up-coming movies doesn't really impress me either. _________________

The only one worth watching is FFVII - Advent Children from that list. The plot however, might be hard to grasp if you haven't played FFVII. Advent Children is the sequel to the videogame.
I was seriously disappointed with Doom because it doesn't take advantage of the Rock's strength, which is comedy. Still, even in a bleak film like Doom, the Rock manages to shine. Here are some classic quotes from the movie.
"I wasn't supposed to die!"
"SHUT! The... F*CKUP!" _________________

I liked the first two and wouldn't mind a third installment, too bad there won't be. _________________

XMEN 3 was really good. Spiderman and Xmen movies are the only good movies I can think of that are based on video games.

Although Spider-Man and X-Men are available through the videogame format, they're originally based on comics. _________________
