Get Rich or Die Trying

Prior to watching Get Rich or Die Trying, the media was hailing 50 Cent for his apparently Oscar-worthy performance, producing false hope and hype among fans of the hip hop star.

Get Rich or Die Trying centers around a gangster - played by 50 Cent - who operates a lucrative drug operation under a local crime lord. But a reunion with his high school sweetheart, combined with time in jail, is just the epiphanic ingredients he needs to quit a life of drug running, and seek his childhood dream of rapping.

I thought the movie was going to be the "black" 8 Mile, but it's really not. Get Rich or Die Trying is one of those cruel movies that loves to tease you into thinking it's going to end any moment, but never lets up. 50 Cent's performance is mediocre at best in this foolishly melodramatic portrayal of a gangster's date with destiny.

I used to be a big 50 cent fan but i've lost interest in rap for the most part. So i will probably never see this.

50 Cent had an explosive first album, but his second album, which ironically outsold his first, is all about bitches and hoes. I prefer biographical rap songs (TI's What You Know, Eminem's Cleaning Out My Closet, etc) or something with sociological impact like Tupac's Changes.

I agree wit you also on this. I really not in to 50's music anymore and I never really wanted to see his movie. Just a bunch of hype.
