Junebug is painful to watch
I don't know what I was thinking when I rented Junebug. All I really knew about the movie was that Benjamin McKenzy was starring in it. Not that I watch the O.C. on a routine basis or even bear any sort of profound penchant for the guy... I have Blockbuster Online so I just inserted the DVD into my queue among a variety of others. Kinda like when you go shopping for groceries, you get lost in the moment and unsuspectingly start dropping random, unnecessay items into your cart.
Closely patterning the placid theme of Lost in Translation and The Hours, Junebug portrays the dysfunctional interaction between a visiting daughter-in-law from the city and her husband's rural family in the South.
This is easily one of the worst movies I've watched this year, among Get Rich or Die Trying and King Arthur. Junebug is the Lost in Translation of 2005, so if you're a masochistic movie watcher, I highly recommend this torture device. _________________
