Invasion canceled...

One of the shows I watch, Invasion, has been abruptly canceled by ABC. I'm upset because this was a really good show. They had the season finale (which turned into the series finale) a few nights ago and it ended on a cliffhanger. It was the perfect ending for the show to come back next season.

Have you ever been so interested in a show to only see it get canceled before its time?

You're not alone. Crying or Very sad

I was disheartened when I found out the dicks that run WB decided to cancel their number 2 series Angel. Why? It's too mature for their teen audience, and their plans in the future did not involve the series in their weekly lineup of generic adolescent-friendly dramas. In the last season of Angel (5th season, I believe), dozens of celebrities and millions of fans fought to keep the show alive. The WB Headquarters were bombarded by thousands of post cards begging the company to keep the show going. Heck, the Angel fan base even collected enough donation to rent an advertisement truck that said, "Keep Angel Alive" or something like that. Long story short, WB told the fans to wank off.

Angel was the only show at WB that improved in ratings during its last season. Every other show (Smallville, Charmed, 7th Heaven, etc) dropped in ratings. And ironically a year after Angel was canceled, WB was tired of the "teen network" stigma. It now aspires to move in a more mature direction. You gotta give it to WB. Cool

I wonder how things will be run at the new network, the CW. This new network is a combined effort of CBS, WB and UPN. Supposedly they were interested in Invasion until they found out how much it costs to run the show. So it appears at least as far as the whole picture is concerned, they aren't trying to be picky against non-teen type shows. Too bad they don't want to spend a little cash though.

I've never heard of this...

Will CW be a cable network? So I take it this is WB and CBS' answer to ABC Family... or is it more like FX? Confused

I'm not sure what it will be like but the CW is replacing UPN and WB. I think CBS is affected as well but I have read all over the place that UPN and WB are the main stations changing their names.

OK, I just found this information which states that UPN and WB will be the ones switching to the CW Network name.

Wait. So UPN and WB will cease to exist? In other words, one of the basic channels will be missing from autumn forth?

Not quite sure. I'm thinking they'll keep both channels and maybe split the shows somehow. Otherwise as you mentioned, we'll all be losing one channel and of course it would be harder for them to fit as many shows into that schedule. It would be weird though to have two channels of the same network. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

It wouldn't make sense if they "split" the shows. It's already split... they might trade shows, but I don't think that would be a reasonable move.
