Capote
I've been on a quest to seek out all of the Oscar-nominated films for Best Picture. Capote was one of them.
It's a slow picture, that kicks off with the death of the Clutters residents. Perry Smith and Dick Hickock become immediate suspects. When Truman Capote learns of this case, he convinces the local newspaper to assign him the story. But as the plot unravels, Capote realizes whatever work comes out of this literary pursuit, will be the crowning accomplishment of his life.
The movie was borderline boring, and it could've definitely used a more riveting and tightly-woven screenplay. Still, the passive directorial style manages to capture the internal drama that plagues Capote and the murder suspects. _________________

I thought that this was an excellent movie; I watched it shortly after it came out. Acting was great also. However, like you said, it's a bit slow. Also it (intentionally?) told the story kind of flatly. I except that some people say "This is a boring movie ..." _________________

Acting is great, but it's questionable whether he should've won Best Actor. I haven't seen Joaquin Phoenix in Walk the Line yet, but I thought Terrence Howard stood a better chance. His role required a wider vocal and emotional range. _________________

I didn't think much about Walk the Line. Joaquin Phoenix was good, but the other actors deliver far more moving and emotional acting. Terrence Howard was great, but traditionally, actors who were relatively unknown before Oscar nomination are unlikely win. _________________

Well Jon Stewart commented that Walk the Line is the "white" Ray. So in that respect, I'm hoping for a solid movie at the least. _________________

It is, and I guess that's where I felt a bit disappointed. More specifically, the movie kind of lacked originality. Walk the Line basically tried to recreate something very similar. It lacked freshness, and that's one of reasons why I didn't feel that it's a great movie. _________________
