David Blaine: Drowned Alive

Did anyone see this? The final two hours was broadcasted on ABC.

He was supposed to hold his breath underwater in order to break the record of 8:58. Long story short, he came up at 7:08 like the life had been sucked out of him. Sucks, because there was so much hype surrounding the event. Plus, they're already selling his DVD on his website. The only thing he really accomplished was burning off his nerves by submerging his skin for 7 days. Joy.

A lot of people think it was a publicity stunt because he's already said he will attempt it again. Some local radio hosts think he purposely didn't accomplish the task so next time the hype will be bigger. I didn't watch it as I've seen a few of his other stunts and this one didn't really interest me.

I really doubt that. I watched the two hour special, and his tears were genuine once the stunt ended. He thanked the fans for supporting him. In recent interviews, sources say he's been depressed because he let the fans down.

Here's a picture of him in the glass bowl.

It is too bad that he didn't stay in there alittle longer. Maybe a real brush with death would make him fade into the background

I am starting to get bored with how often that he make headlines.

I can't believe that you watched the 2hr special, I can't stand to look at the guy for 30secs

I remember when he did stayed in the block of ice for like 7 days a few years ago. It is all publicity and a way for him to make money. The guy is a street magician.. that's what they do.

i remember when he went in and did his little speech about the final escape and said if he can't do it in time he'll drown, i know he has to say that for dramatic effect but now whenever he makes such claims again, people will never believe him.

Heh. The 2-hour special was much better than my skepticism had assumed. It wasn't just staring at the spectacle of David Blaine floating inside a water bowl. ABC packed the 2 hours with good ol' street magic by the illusionist and also included an interesting documentary of a pro diver, who dived and died trying to perform a similar stunt.

David Blaine is an interesting concept, as he realises that the mind can have no substance, so doing things like this he is challenging he's own body on purpose. It is also an advertising ploy, at many levels.

I don't know why he calls himself a magician... maybe stuntman, daredevil, publicity hound...

Oh, ok. Well, I'd never seen him doing any of that. Seems to me like he's more famous for the stunts.

I hate David Blaine. I truly hate the man. He is talented dont get me wrong but his entertaining skills are minimal.
