Musical: Singin' in the Rain

Here's a thread to discuss the musical (movie) "Singin' in the Rain". Your take? Good, bad, mediocre, so so? What do you like about it? What do you dislike about it?

Well, now it seems a bit obsolete, like many other movies from that "age". But it was a nice one and I recall watching it with a great pleasure. Sometimes I do need to watch this kind of movies. A nice movie after all.

I don't feel that way at all about this movie. I think that this is a fantastic movie. It is true that musical has evolved greatly, and musical in that era isn't the same as musical today. Also motion picture has evolved, and it's hard to imagine anyone or any studio's making a movie like this today. That said, Singin' in the Rain is of superior quality, and it is a classic, IMO.

Everyone tells me Singin' in the Rain is their favorite movie. It's a wonderful film, and you gotta give it to the actors of that era, for memorizing all those lines and choreography in one take. I don't go crazy for this movie, like a lot of people do, but it's still remarkable.

Apparently, quite a few actors and actresses rehearsed until their feet started breeding. They really worked hard to make those amazing scenes.
