You mean Fred Astaire's "Top Hat?" Love it... love anything with Fred Astaire! He was definately before my time... I ain't that old. BUT, I really love the dance and the music. He really was amazing.
These types of movies aren't for everyone. I doubt most "kids" these days would appreciate the talent (singing, dancing, actual acting) found in most of these musicals of the 20's - 50's.
The plots were simple as water but that wasn't the main attraction for these types of films. Typically, the purpose was to offer the masses a few hours of peace and amusement from the world around them. These movies got the job done!
