Saw

We just watched Saw tonight. It reminded me of a couple of movies, including Cube, and Seven. I didn't expect the ending at all. If you like scary movies, this one is cool.

I like movies that take place in essentially one scene. This was a pretty good one.

If that's truly the case, might I recommend Misery? It takes place in a house, but the guy's in bed for the most part.

It's adapted from Stephen King's novel. I've read and watched both versions, and I'll have to recommend the efficiently-paced movie over the verbose counterpart.

IMHO Saw is one of the very few recent horror films that I would recommend to anyone looking for a film that grabs you by the throat and shakes every last ounce of scepticism out of you.

Without a doubt this will be a classic for decades to come.

I wouldn't say it shakes all the scepticism out of you, as the movie, as brilliant as its concept it, has a few profound plot holes.

SAW II actually has the worst plot hole. Still, the franchise is fun. It's like Final Destination. It doesn't get old.

I have Saw 2 to watch this evening - by scepticism I meant about the film more than likely being crud - as with most modern horrors. It was definitely a lot better than I had imagined it would be Smile

I liked this movie and without spoiling it for anybody else, I don't understand how the two guys in the room didn't find out who it was. To go that long, and have it be the person that it was.. there'd have to be some signs.

I watched saw 2 - and i was a little disappointed - no idea why because I'm yet to find a sequal that ever lives up to the first film Sad

Saw 2, as I mentioned previously, is where the franchise turns Hollywood. The success of the original compelled the studio to rush out a sequel. The director isn't even the same guy anymore.

BTW, did you catch you the huge plot hole?

SPOILERS***
At the end of the movie, the detective finds his legs chained and hence unable to grab his pistol, which is less than an inch away from his reach. I guess he never thought to take his shirt off and use it as a sticky hand.

Saw and Saw II are two of the best movies in this genre in recent years. It's a said thing that the director died but I believe they are still proceeding on the final Saw III.

Great flicks!

The original Saw was great, but the sequel was just OK. I was thinking about the first movie for days after I saw it. It's one of the few truly scary movies I've seen.

The two movies take on a different subgenre of horror. The original is more thought-provoking and twisted, whereas the sequel is more of a crazy serial killer-type film.

I noticed that people who watch the second movie first, enjoy it over the former. Whereas people who watched the orignal first, prefer it over the sequel.

In other words, I think both movies were decent and fun in distinct ways. Hence, people fall in love with the qualities of the version they watched first and expect similar in the counterpart.

I would saw that the entire series was original and actually scary and interesting. The problem now is that every other movie is tyring to copy the look, or plot, or suspense that made it so good. and they cant and fail pretty bad.
the horror industry is in trouble right now ...

The Saw trilogy was an amazing movie series and will be considered some of the best horror movies of all time, IMO. I just do not understand what they are going to do, now that Jigsaw is no more (there is going to be a Saw IV).
