Focus on Client Eastwood

What's your take on this director, Client Eastwood? Have you seen his films? What's your favorite?

Usually , earlier films are better . But when we talk about Eartwood, I liked Million dollar baby , very much. In earlier years, I just remember him more like actor then director.

It's definitely my favorite of all Client Eastwood films. He's getting better as he gets older.

I have 2 movies that really made me wonder: Bridges from Madison County and Million Dollar Baby.

I saw the first one 10 years ago .. didn't like it. I thought it was boring and had nothing special. When I grew up some more I re-watched the movie. I was amazed. It's such a good movie. Loved it.

Million Dollar Baby was recommended to me by someone. I failed watching it until few weeks ago. I was yet again shocked. What started as yet another Rocky movie, was turned into something very serious. Clint Eastwood is indeed a good director Wink

He is like aged wine. He gets better and better, as he gets older. It's really a good thing he's doing; Hollywood and the rest of America seem to be believing that it's always better to be younger, and you always want to look young and act young. He is showing that life isn't exactly like that ...

I haven't seen Madison County, but my colleagues warn me that it's boring.

I really didn't like how Million Dollar Baby ended. Everybody loves plot twists and surprise endings, but this was more like, "WTF?" It just killed everything.

There are several boxing films, and Million Dollar Baby probably has the most depressing ending. IMO, it portrays today's America (in many people's eyes) symbolically in a way.

There's always a symbolic portrayal of something, in any movie, whether the director intends it or not. But it doesn't make a film any better.

BTW: Sandra Bullock was originally chosen to play the female lead, but she turned it down to shoot Miss Congeniality, which tanked.

I'm still on the fence about Million Dollar Baby. Spoilers ahoy...

On the one hand I hate how it turned into one of those godawful "right to die" movies. I think there are far too many of them out there and it's bordering on insulting to many people with disabilities, many of whom enjoy life and want to live. Is it not nobler, especially for a boxer, to stay and fight?

Plus there were so many things just plain wrong with the story... a shot of adrenaline to the heart is not a good, quick, easy death. In fact adrenaline is often used to revive cardiac arrest victims.

But then again, maybe that was meant to illustrate that "in boxing, everything is turned around"?
