How do you like Netflix's Instant Download feature?

Has anyone else tried Netflix's Instant Download feature, and if so, how did you like it? I love the idea of being able to download a movie anytime, but there are still some drawbacks to it... for one, they don't seem to have very many popular movies available for download. Also, I'm pretty sure you have to re-download something if you want to watch it again. And the biggest drawback to me is lack of caption and subtitle options; you can't turn on captions and subtitles if you want them, but if it's a foreign film in a different language the English subtitles are on by default. What if you have hearing problems (as I do... minor ones now, but may worsen someday)? What if you speak the language and don't want the subtitles?

I hope Netflix addresses these things, especially the captions, but I'm doubtful. I wrote to them and explained my concerns, and they just said it was a complimentary addition to my account so I should just add the movies to my queue if I want captions. Sure, but what happens when postal rates go up and they start encouraging people to download movies instead of mail them?

I had never even heard of the this feature. Interesting. I wonder if they are looking to change business model to that of digital delivery (ala iTunes and AppleTV)

No. I have not tried yet. But I have seen the commercial on TV.
I wonder how long it takes to download a movie on a DSL connection.

Downloading a movie can take hours, even via torrents.

downloading a movie over the net is not really a viable option at this point the basic american family is not going to have a T1 or faster connection to make it worthwhile, plus I'd rather watch a movie on my big screen and home theater

My buddy was telling me about this feature... that's pretty damn cool. I use Blockbuster but that Netflix feature is pretty cool.

Netflix's instant download feature is streaming, so the movie starts pretty much immediately. I haven't had any buffer problems either, but I have high speed cable.

I'm curious to know that too. I guess the question is, at what point do servers and T1 lines and bandwidth and electricity, etc., become cheaper than snail mail? And I'm sure they wouldn't want to alienate users who prefer the home theater experience, but with the way you can buy large screens and such for computers now maybe eventually the Internet-enabled computer will just become another component of the home theater.
