Chasing Amy was also a low budget movie, and if I get this right, it cost him like 200k.

Yeah, just a little more than 200K. It was a very cheap movie. Smith wasn't bad at it with Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy.

Unfortunately his newer film Jersey Girl bombed miserably. I don't see the guy writing/directing anytime soon. He's also received a bad wrap in the comic industry, as he's originally a comic book writer. Most comics deliver a new issue every month. Smith writes when he wants, so sometimes, he can leave the fans hanging for months, even years. For his last comic, he was writing about the dynamic between Daredevil and Bullseye. After a year of hiatus from the series, a more competent writer Brian Michael Bendis wrote a legendary series that to this day, is arguably the defining Daredevil/Bullseye story arc in comic history. Upon reading the series, Kevin Smith, was overwhelmed with doubt and insecurity about his own unfinished Daredevil/Bulleye series, and officially quit. My level of respect for him dropped considerably after the unprofessional tantrum he threw on his blog.
