Movie chat: Ray

Ray. Do you like the movie or you dislike it? Any great acting movie? Directing? Script? Music?

Ray was a wonderful movie. Jamie Foxx was so believable as Ray Charles.
Also, I dont think enough credit was given to the supporting cast.

I agree. I enjoyed it very much. Story was good and also acting was good, but music was really really good, and that made it a great entertainment to me. In some cases, cutting the story short does not work well, but it worked well in this case, as Ray Charles' life up until he got off drugs was really the core of his life story.

I agree with you. He deserved the award. I'm also happy that he got many other awards for his performance in Ray.

Yes he was really bleaveable. It was one of the best movies that Jamie Foxx has ever played in I think. I mean he was ok in Any Given Sunday. But Ray just make his sky rocket and look liek a real star.

Before Ray, Jamie Foxx only acted in movies that were basically made to generate revenue alone and that did not try to be of quality movies. To be honest, I initially thought, "Jamie Foxx?" I didn't imagine his acting in an indie and doing a fine job that he did in "Ray."

He made the biggest turnaround of any actor I know. How do you go from movies like Booty Call and sitcoms, to Ray and Collateral in one year? Shocked

Maybe he was a fine actor and just trying to get a good serious role?

I'm not arguing that he wasn't a fine actor before. I'm just raising the fact that he made a brilliant come back in Hollywood.

When it comes to the film industry, associating yourself with a sitcom will kill your movie career. It's not easy to get casted for a serious Oscar contender, when the last major movie you made was Booty Call.

Perhaps, but I guess this is why Jamie Foxx took a role in indie film, Ray?

Ray isn't an indie film. It costed millions of dollars to produce it.

Not to mention, Jamie Fox was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor in Collateral.

Well, it costs a couple of million dollars to make any film even if it's a super low budget film. Kevin Smith's Clerks is an exception (Did he spend like 10k to make that?).

Yeah. Supposedly, he sold his car to shoot Clerks. Probably shouldn't have been much. Laughing
